Randy Pausch is a computer science professor from CMU. Although Professor Randy has been told to have only three to six months good health, he gave his speech on time management to teach students life lessons that he thought will be helpful for their success. Professor Randy was known for his contributions to computer science education (the computing language "Alice" and its IDE) as well as his highly qualified work on human-computer interaction (as he mentioned in his speech, such things like trash can in computer, and the idea of scanning). Following are 5 points I summarized from his speech, and the speech video is given in the folloging Youtube Video.

Introduce you to Randy Pausch

What I have Learned

1.The equality of money and time: Our time can be valued by profit we create every single hour, but the importance is that we can make money in the future, but we cannot make our time back again. People should be serious about their time management, wasting time is not simply wasting money, and it is also represent that one¡¯s attitude toward his own life. If we treat time casually, it means that we treat our lives casually.

2. Doing things right is far less efficiency than doing the right things: if we are spending time doing things, make sure we are doing what we want, and try to enjoy it, or why should we do it if we do not want it at the first place. For example, if one is interested in drawing, he should not go studying computer science, rather, she or he need to go to an art school.

3. Good judgment come from experiences, and experiences comes from bad judgment. It is the same experience from programming language, everything start very unclear, we need to keep testing our function and codes, and finally we can become familiar with code process so that we can produce better functions and programs.

4. You can change your plan only if you have one: using fake deadline to push myself so that i can finish things before deadline. It is OK to do it at the end, but it cost so expansive.

5. being successful doesn¡¯t make you manage your time well, but good time

management will make you successful. Time management is also a hot topic. It is mathematically correct that if we spend our time efficiently, we can achieve more things than before. If we are not born genius, we do not use time to overcome the gap
